A beautiful shallow basket from the remote Binga district of Northern Zimbabwe- home to the displaced Tonga people. Tonga women today utilize the traditional weaving techniques to create intricate patterned baskets. This ethnically designed basket was designed in the traditional over and under technique and takes about 2 weeks to complete. Handwoven from naturally and locally harvested materials such as wild grasses, small vines, and palm leaves dyed with tree bark.
